This week, the Tweenies have enjoyed a walk in our community to see the local ducks and swans. The children made quacking noises as they saw the ducks. The swans grabbed their attention as some of the children shouted “wow!” as the swans flapped their wings.
Finger painting, stamp dabbing and gluing has also been explored this week. Mud kitchen water play was a hit within the garden as the children used pots and pans to transport and fill with water, then add mud, sand, sticks and stones to make mud soup.
We explored more animal play at the allotment with Ros as we learned how a tadpole grows into a frog through a book and small roleplay items. We learned how seeds grow and that they need lots of water, as well as that all seeds are different from flowers to fruits and veg. By taking a few balls to the Astro turf, we were able to ply against each other trying to get the balls and kick them to friends, building up our social and large muscular movement skills.
We have really been enjoying story time recently, as puppets and musical objects are added to include everyone. Song time has been a daily occurrence this week as the children run for the monkey and crocodile puppets to sing their favourite song “5 little monkeys swinging in a tree” along with other popular requests.
